We want every parent and student to be able to use these guides, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, zoom or other assistive tools.
What we've done so far
- Every page sets its language and uses a clear heading structure, so screen readers can jump between sections.
- Each page has a “Skip to content” link for keyboard users, and links and buttons show a visible outline when they have keyboard focus.
- Every photo has a text description, and photo captions and credits are real text, not part of the image.
- Guides are plain web pages with no pop-ups, auto-playing media or sign-in walls. The layout adapts to phone, tablet and desktop screens.
- Official sign-up and source links are ordinary text links that say where they go.
Known limitations
- The small source markers (such as [S4]) after each fact are short links. Each one jumps to a numbered source list at the bottom of the guide, where the full name of the page is shown.
- On very narrow phone screens, the “How we source” link is hidden from the top menu. The same page is linked in the footer as “About & how we source”.
- Links to university, hotel, tour and transit sites take you to pages we don't control, and their accessibility varies.
We haven't had the site independently audited. We keep improving it as we add guides.
