1. Who this guide is for

This plan is for parents flying in with a high schooler, and maybe younger siblings, to see Vanderbilt, with an evening or a morning to see Nashville.[S1][S3]

Vanderbilt sits about 1.5 miles southwest of downtown, in the West End neighborhood of midtown, close to Music Row and Hillsboro Village.[S3]

Why this order

  • Arrive the day before and stay on West End, so visit morning is a short walk to admissions.[S11]
  • Visit day: a 30-minute admissions presentation and a 15-minute Q&A, then a student-led walking tour of about an hour and 1.5 miles across the 340-acre campus.[S2]
  • Optional second school: Belmont University is about 5 minutes away by car.[S10]
Tour availability varies by season.
  • Dates appear only in the portal, and registration opens 6–8 weeks before each visit date.[S2]
  • Vanderbilt keeps no waitlist; if a date is full, check back for cancellations. Don't make non-refundable travel plans until your visit is confirmed.[S2]
  • Extreme weather can cancel visits.[S2]

2. The suggested 1-day plan

  • Drive times are no-traffic estimates from OpenStreetMap routing, and walking times use OpenStreetMap foot routing, with addresses geocoded by OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Nominatim matched the Loews address (2100 West End Ave) to another business at the same address, so its times are for that building.[S10][S11][S12]
